    The horse’s head reminds me of the famous scene from the Godfather. The rooster, not so much; nor the soft-friends.

    And the cameras, coupled with the sentiment of the quotes: W.G. Sebald had a character in his book ‘Austerlitz’, named Austerlitz, who embodied some of the feeling in these quotes. The man wandered about, chronicling his life in images, in an effort to remember/reconstruct the childhood that was lost to him because of exile from Germany, to soddy Wales.

    A strange fortress you’ve willed.

    except, of course, the fortress is yours.

    one of the most interesting things about making things and putting them into the public domain, is the wildly differing ways people interpret them.

    i used to find it perplexing and thought it implied a lack of quality on my behalf in some way, now i just find it liberating: the gifts are multifarious indeed.
