except, of course, the fortress is yours.

one of the most interesting things about making things and putting them into the public domain, is the wildly differing ways people interpret them.

i used to find it perplexing and thought it implied a lack of quality on my behalf in some way, now i just find it liberating: the gifts are multifarious indeed.

The horse's head reminds me of the famous scene from the Godfather. The rooster, not so much; nor the soft-friends.

And the cameras, coupled with the sentiment of the quotes: W.G. Sebald had a character in his book 'Austerlitz', named Austerlitz, who embodied some of the feeling in these quotes. The man wandered about, chronicling his life in images, in an effort to remember/reconstruct the childhood that was lost to him because of exile from Germany, to soddy Wales.

A strange fortress you've willed.

did you know that i thought say hello wave goodbye was a david gray song until i looked it up on wikipedia when trying to think of something very clever to say in this text box? i also considered using bizarro's final words from whatever happened to the man of tomorrow, "hello, superman. hello," but i thought that was a bit too nichey.

i wonder whats the first thing people see when they look at this particular collage and what that says about them. i zoomed in on the book that says look back in anger. and the bird reminded me of my grand canyon tour guide talking about vultures. she said "they eat carrion, dead things. they clean up the world."

the way you handle composition is lovely, too.

i like the guardian not just for its content but also b/c it has so many sections to make the collage from. :)

this one is lovely! very disconcerting and dripping with frustration. do you always get all the clippings from the guardian? or do you get different pieces from different publications? that lady in the lower left corner looks hand drawn...

lol @ depeche mode fan board. i mean, i guess it must exist, but the reality of it never crossed my mind before now. hahahaahaa.

mystified chance, perhaps? that would have brought you here, no less. but then, who am i chatting to? ;)

the banner image was a strange coinkidink. the day i decided to start posting the collages up here, i went through that saturday's guardian and there it was, all perfect and shit.

i just looked at the original and i can't see any name/initials to even begin trying to figure it out.
